Once the fluted nails are driven into the concrete wall, they are next to impossible to remove. Robert Robillard is a general contractor, carpenter and operates a remodeling company located in Concord, MA. Again, the nails should be placed every 16 inches along the length of each furring strip. Apply a bead of liquid nail on the flat, broad side of this floor plate from one end to the other end of the plate. Your basement can be more than a utility and storage area. Repeat this process with the other studs, each of which should be attached against the wall with the bottom end resting on a inch mark.
How to Insulate a Basement Wall
Many times, the distance will be 4' or less. I know it would only be 20mm of insulation, but it would still be better than bare concrete walls or should I go with the 2 x 20mm thick? The same problem applies to these products, which are both air-permeable. If I do have a slight water issue, what should I install. Of course with any basement there are variations and mine is no different. Basically small blacks get nailed between joists in the bay the wall goes in. To what end result?
What is fire block? How do I install fire blocking for my basement?
I put 2" XPS right on the concrete and will be framing right up next to that, so there really won't be any gaps like in your pictures. No drywall or vaport barrier was used. And remember, concrete likes to be damp, because that makes for stronger concrete. We just got water in our basement which required us to twear down the finished portion.

Description: I had to laugh at the very beginning when you talk about the statement "I'm Your Huckleberry". Foil faced is typically polyiso insulation, that works too. What a wealth of good knowledge here. Another example is that the wall must breathe to allow the block walls to dry to the inside. Thanks for clearing up much of the mystery about this topic.
